Strategic Projects
When something specific needs doing, and doing properly.
A funding round, an acquisition, a systems change, or the continuity plan that should have been written three years ago. Some things do not fit a monthly rhythm.
Discuss a project- Fee
- From £5,000 scoped and fixed before work begins
- Duration
- Typically 4–12 weeks
Some things do not fit a monthly rhythm. They need a start, a deliverable and a finish.
Each of these is scoped as a standalone piece of work with the fee agreed in writing before anything begins. No hourly billing, and no scope that quietly grows.
What projects cover
Four kinds of work.
Funding and financial strategy
-
Funding and lender support
Preparing the business case, the model and the pack, then managing the process with banks, funders or investors.
-
Financial modelling
Three-way forecasts, scenario planning, investment appraisal, and the business case behind a major decision.
-
Pricing and margin rebuild
Rebuilding the pricing structure across a service book or product range, with the margin analysis behind it.
Growth, value and transactions
-
Acquisition support
Financial due diligence, deal structuring input and post-acquisition integration.
-
Value-build programme
Delivering the twelve-month plan produced by an Exit Readiness Review.
-
Strategic planning
Facilitating the board or family strategy day, then converting the discussion into a costed, measurable plan.
Resilience and risk
-
Business continuity and disaster recovery
What happens if you lose your systems, your premises, your data or your largest client. The plan, the tested response, and the financial stress-testing behind it.
-
Key-person and succession risk
Identifying where the business depends on individuals, and building the cover before it is needed rather than during a crisis.
-
Risk and controls review
Fraud exposure, authorisation limits, segregation of duties, insurance adequacy and contract risk.
-
Turnaround and cash recovery
Stabilising cash, renegotiating terms, and building and delivering a recovery plan.
Operations and change
-
Finance function redesign
Systems selection and implementation, process redesign, month-end close, and the reporting build.
-
Board and management reporting
Designing the pack, the KPI set and the monthly rhythm from scratch.
-
Operational improvement
Cost base review, procurement and supplier renegotiation, productivity and capacity analysis.
-
Interim and gap cover
Stepping in when a finance lead leaves, through the recruitment and the handover.
How projects are scoped
You know the fee before anything starts.
-
01
Conversation
A call to understand what is actually needed.
-
02
Scoping note
A written definition of the deliverable, the timescale and the fee.
-
03
Delivery
Fixed fee, agreed before anything starts.
-
04
Handover
You keep the models, the packs and the plans.
Fees start at £5,000 and are fixed at the scoping note. Scope varies too widely to publish a price list without misleading you, so the figure comes out of the first conversation rather than a form.
Where projects come from
Usually one of two places.
Either a diagnostic found something worth fixing properly, or you already knew and needed someone to run it. Many projects end with a client wanting the ongoing rhythm afterwards.
Tell us what needs doing.
For owners facing a defined piece of work that needs doing once, and needs doing right.
